Hurricane Irma Alert

Date: 09/07/17

Sunshine Health has resumed normal operations in the wake of Hurricane Irma. Cleanup continues, and many are still without power. Please continue to stay safe.

RECOVERY ASSISTANCE: For information about state programs that can assist with recovery efforts, please visit the Florida Division of Emergency Management website here

CRISIS HOTLINE: Sunshine Health, Envolve PeopleCareā„¢ and LifeShare have joined forces to offer a 24-hour toll-free crisis hotline at 1-877-941-8079 for anyone affected by Hurricane Irma. If you, or someone you know, would like to connect to a licensed professional, call 1-877-941-8079. The line is staffed by healthcare professionals who can offer one-on-one counseling as well as referrals to additional local resources. This is a free service for the community. You do not need to be a Sunshine Health member to call. Spanish speaking services are available.

PROVIDERS: Due to the impact of Hurricane Irma, our Utilization Management department is prioritizing how we process requests for prior authorization.

  • For urgent care provided from Sept. 8-18, please provide the services and submit your prior authorization request through the provider portal. If you are not able to access the portal, please send a fax. Sunshine Health will provide a retrospective authorization for these dates of service.
  • For routine services that require authorization, please submit your request through the provider portal. If you are not able to access the portal, please send a fax

We will return to normal prior authorization processes after Sept. 18, 2017.

HOME CARE AND DME PROVIDERS: Sunshine Health wants to ensure that our members currently receiving home care services (including private duty nursing, and/or have DME equipment in their home) do not have their care disrupted.

  • For current home health authorizations (including private duty nursing, and/or DME authorizations) with end dates within the next two weeks, we have extended that end date to Sept. 30, 2017.
  • This is for our Medicaid, Child Welfare, Long Term Care, Healthy Kids and Ambetter members.

Thank you for serving our members every day and especially during this time.
